The exploitation of a newly disclosed Fortinet Fortigate firewall vulnerability (CVE-2024-55591) enabled attackers to bypass authentication, establish persistent VPN access, and ultimately facilitate a devastating LockBit ransomware attack that crippled the victim's infrastructure and destroyed backups.
